About Us

OUR MISSION

To give any girl escaping from FGM (female genital mutilation) and forced early marriage an opportunity to pursue and realize their goals and to utilize their God-given potential that could have otherwise been cut off by these cultural practices.

 We provide abused Maasai girls with a safe, loving home and a path towards a future of financial independence.

Ilmarba Rescue Center is dedicated to empowering young Maasai girls by providing a safe haven from the threats of early marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM). Our mission began in 2016 with the rescue of five young girls, and in 2017, we established our rescue center, enabling us to rescue over 30 girls and counting, and creating a nurturing environment where many more girls can pursue their dreams and aspirations.

A key aspect of our mission is to facilitate the reconciliation of rescued girls with their families whenever possible. We work closely with parents, community elders, and children’s aid workers to ensure that families commit to protecting their daughters from FGM and early marriage, allowing for safe reintegration into their homes. Despite these efforts, some young ladies must remain in our care.

At Ilmarba Rescue Center, we believe in the transformative power of education and community support. We provide our girls with essential resources, including housing, food, clothing, and access to education. Our programs also include vocational training, equipping them with skills for a brighter future. The young women in our care aspire to become doctors, nurses, lawyers, and pilots, and we are committed to helping them achieve their goals.

In addition to supporting the girls, we actively engage with the local community to promote awareness about the dangers of FGM and early marriage. Our initiatives include providing access to fresh water and launching feeding programs for
local school children, fostering a healthier and more supportive environment for all.

We operate under the authority of Christ Community Church International and are proud to collaborate with various organizations, including Awana, the International Sports Academy, CrossRoads Christian Fellowship and Mustard Seed Global Health & Wellness Inc. , to enhance our programs and out reach efforts. These partnerships strengthen our ability to provide comprehensive care and support to the girls we serve.
As we look to the future, we remain focused on empowering families economically through initiatives such as micro-business programs, which aim to provide sustainable income and reduce the pressures of early marriage.

How It WORKS

Through this structured rescue process, we strive to provide a com prehensive support system that not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters long-term growth and empowerment for each girl we serve.

Identification and Rescue
Our journey begins with identifying at-risk girls who are vulnerable to early marriage and FGM. Through collaboration with local communities, schools, and health work ers, we raise awareness about the dangers these young women face. Once identified, girls are rescued through discreet missions, or they may arrive at our center after being abandoned or fleeing from FGM rituals on their own. Our priority is to ensure their safety and provide immediate protection.
Assessment and Support
Upon arrival at Ilmarba Rescue Center, each girl undergoes a thorough assessment to understand her unique needs and circumstances. Many girls have suffered assault and require medical care, and our dedicated staff provides the necessary support to address their health concerns. We also focus on emotional well-being, offering coun seling and a nurturing environment to help them adjust to their new surroundings.
Establishment in a Caring Home
After their initial assessment, the girls are placed in local homes with caring families who are committed to providing a supportive environment. This step is crucial for fostering a sense of belonging and stability, allowing the girls to heal and thrive in a loving atmosphere.
Education and Vocational Training
Education is at the heart of our mission. We enroll each girl in school and provide access to vocational training programs tailored to her interests and skills. This em powers her with knowledge and practical skills, equipping her for a brighter future and greater independence.
Family Reconciliation
We believe in the importance of family and community. As part of our mission, we work towards reconciling the girls with their families whenever possible. This in volves engaging with parents, community elders, and social workers to facilitate open communication and ensure commitments are made to protect the girls from future harm.
Empowerment and Advocacy
Our commitment to these girls extends beyond their time at the center. We focus on empowering them to become advocates for their own rights and the rights of others in their communities. By fostering leadership skills and encouraging community in volvement, we aim to create a ripple effect of change that benefits future generations.
